Unconditional election

Unconditional election – God saves those He wishes. Only a few selected for salvation. The Concept of predestination. There are no conditions on who’s elected, just that God choose those He saved. Found in the second of five points along the reformation theology using the word TULIP.

Some say man is not motivated to act, total depravity. Unconditional election is also called unconditional grace or sovereign election. This doctrine has also been called Adopted by God and unmerited favor. Those who are predestined are saved unto God’s grace regardless how sinful they are. The Bible does speak of election and predestination. This doctrine of grace is one of five points according to the Reformation Theology. Most people associate this doctrine with Calvinism.

Forseen actions?

For example, this doctrine beliefs God does not foresee any actions or conditions. God saves whom He pleases in this doctrine instead.  “God does not foresee an action or condition on our part that induces Him to save us.” —R.C. Sproul. Those God wills are the elect. They will not resist the salvation, known as irresistible grace. If unconditional election is true, can we question God for whom he chooses or not chooses? After all He is God and He can do as He wishes.

Deserve Salvation?

After all does any of us deserve to be saved? There is nothing we can do to save ourselves, sola fida. In this doctrine God chooses whom He will save without any foreseen knowledge. It is all according to His sovereign choice. The Bible mentions, that God before the foundations of the World choose certain people. See some of the Bible verses listed below. In both the Old Testament and New Testament the Bible speaks of Election and Predestination as people God choose before the foundations of the World. If they were chosen before the foundations of the World, they haven’t lived yet to be able to do anything, works.

Will God Save Me Despite My Sin? Yes He will!

Most people don’t believe in this doctrine because they believe their salvation is conditional and based on their own righteousness instead of the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Shai Linne’s Song Doctrine of Election

Check out part of the lyrics to Shai Linne’s song Doctrine of Election.

“Save the man Abraham from a pagan land. Who can argue with the people that God chooses? Israel and not Egypt, Peter and not Judas.  Humanly speaking, it should have been Saul and not David. The inheritance should have been Esau’s and not Jacob’s. The truth it speaks brightly so you can see rightly.  A huge, mighty God who chooses the least likely. Still some contest it as a phony doctrine. But if we’re really dead in sin, predestination is the only option.” Election by Shai Linne

“None can come to the Son unless they’re drawn by the Father. “But God draws everybody” That’s what some cats say It can’t be that way because all who are drawn are raised on the last day Because of original sin and all of our despicable deadness within Election must be unconditional then.” Election by Shai Linne

“Why did God choose me? Because He felt like it!” Election by Shai Linne

Examples of Election

For example, the song points out a few people for example of where God choose people over others. For example Jacob over Esau and David over Saul. Plus, it also shows how God Choose Israel over Egypt and Peter over Judas. There are plenty of other examples in the Bible that can be shown too.

Random Choice?

Also point out God’s choice is not done at random either. Nor is the elect chosen at random. If it was up to man, man will always choose their sinful state over God’s Will. Sin deserves death. (LSD of the Bible – Lust brings forth Sin and Sin Death). God could have chose to save everyone, universalism. But He didn’t. Not to mention, God could have choose not to save any one. By God choosing to save some, shows both His Mercy, Grace and Justice.

I like what Got Questions says …

A biblical understanding of election helps one share the gospel freely with all people, knowing that any one of them could be Christ’s sheep whom He is calling into His fold (John 10:16). It is not up to us to determine if someone is elect or non-elect, and there is always the promise of salvation for anyone who will repent and believe in Christ. The gospel message should be preached to all people in the knowledge that God will use it to draw His sheep to Himself.

Up to man or God?

If the election was due to God and not of man, it has to be unconditional. If it was up to the man, it would be conditional election. Conditional election is believed by man Armenians. Stay tuned to this blog, as I will post about that doctrine too.
