The Word of the Week

Word of the Week – Introduction: This is the introductory article for a buddy of and fellow brother of mine, Justin Breeden. I was telling him about the Living by Faith page in the papers I work for, where Courageous Christian Father is the sponsor, I told him that one of the pastors has been in bad health and not submitted his article. Breeden prayed about it and decided he would write the article in it. So I told him he can become syndicated and other papers may want to pick up his article and it be done in various papers. So I am also going to syndicate his articles on Courageous Christian Father every week.

The Word of the Week by Justin Breeden

Below is the first article for The Word of the Week.

The Word of the Week

I would like to thank you for reading the first installation of The Word of the Week. This is an article that will seek to honor the Lord Jesus Christ by making known His glorious truths revealed in the Word of God and seeking to apply those truths to the lives of His people.
To introduce myself, I am Justin Breeden.  My wife, Stacy, and I live in New Market, Tennessee.  Previously I served as Pastor of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee for two and a half years.  We are currently members of Piedmont Baptist Church in Dandridge, Tennessee.
Regarding my faith, I praise God that the Lord Jesus Christ was pleased to save me by His grace during the summer of 2006 at the age of 22.
In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB), the apostle Paul writes, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”  Did you know that the phrase the apostle uses in verse 16, “inspired by God,” is actually a translation of the Greek term, theopneustos, which literally means, “breathed out by God”?  Think about it – whenever you or I speak, we do so by first inhaling air into our lungs and then exhaling that air out of our lungs.  Therefore, in this verse the Bible is claiming to be the very words of God.  For this reason, the Bible is worthy of our utmost reverence and obedience.
After much prayer, I felt led that there is a need for the unadulterated truth of the Word of God to be proclaimed in the public arena today.  Sadly, many of our local “churches” are so by name only – not by substance.  They have deviated from proclaiming the glorious truths of Scripture in order to accommodate a “politically correct” culture.  In fact, even here in the “Bible Belt” it seems that many people have never heard the true Biblical Gospel of a sovereign God who saves sinners solely by His grace alone, through faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone.  I look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for The Word of the Week!  Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone Be the Glory).
