Christian Humor below on The Way to Heaven – Story about a little boy and a pastor who is asking for directions. Then the pastor also tells the boy he can show him the way to heaven.
The Way to Heaven!
A little boy was waiting for his mother to come out of the grocery store.
As he waited, he was approached by a man who asked, “Son, can you tell me where the post office is?”
The little boy replied, “Sure, just go straight down the street a couple of blocks and turn to your right.”
The man thanked the boy kindly and said, “I’m the new pastor in town, and I’d like for you to come to church on Sunday. I’ll show you how to get to Heaven.”
The little boy replied with a chuckle, “Awww, come on; you don’t even know the way to the post office!”
I got this as an email forward in 2012 and thought it was cute and had to share. I am not sure where this originated. If anyone knows, please feel free to share that with me. Could you have imagined what the pastors next words would have been?
Thoughts …
You know ironically, we must watch what we say and how we invite people to church. Like with this boy and this pastor. The pastor was lost needed directions. Then the pastor offered to show him the way to somewhere. A lost person cannot show a lost person where to be found or go. The pastor might have said something else instead of I will show you how to get to Heaven. After all the pastor couldn’t even find the post office.
Revisiting
I am revisiting some older blog post and plan to republished them. Like this one from 2012. One of the first few things published on Courageous Christian Father.
Kids can be honest and point things out like that. Adults, we might not have pointed that out and just kept quiet and talked about the new pastor to everyone else saying something like he said he was going to show us how to get to heaven, but he couldn’t find the post office.
Maybe the pastor could have said something along the lines of I am the new pastor in town, I am inviting you to church Sunday. There I can tell you about a man who saved me and can save you too. (or other wording).
The other point is, the pastor still invited, the young boy. But, it also could get that boy thinking hmm. What’s Heaven and how do I get there. Perhaps the boy has heard people speak of Heaven.
Even if we do something like that, we still should be out witnessing and inviting people to church. We don’t want our church to come a fossil do we?
Everyone’s job to invite, not just the pastor!
There is only ONE WAY to Heaven! That is through the Lord Jesus Christ!
