The one in charge has already been chosen — In Heaven, Jesus Christ Is Already Chosen as Lord – There’s No Election Day — we will not get to vote for who’s in charge. The person in charge has already been chosen.

Maybe you are happy with who won the election, maybe you aren’t. Maybe you feel hurt but the donkey or the elephant then turn to the lamb. Remember in Heaven we will no longer have to vote and have to worry about who is on charge as the perfect Lamb will be.

In our earthly experience, voting has become a powerful symbol of autonomy and choice. It’s an act that signifies freedom and involvement in choosing who will lead. But in Heaven, the reality of authority and governance is fundamentally different: the one in charge has already been chosen, and His name is Jesus Christ. There’s no voting, no campaigning, no deliberation. His rule is supreme, unchallenged, and eternal.

Why Jesus? Because He’s God’s Perfect Choice

In John 3:35, we read, “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.” God the Father, who knows and sees everything, has entrusted all authority to His Son, Jesus. Jesus isn’t simply one of many rulers; He’s the ruler appointed by God Himself. In Heaven, God’s will is fully manifest, and His choice is the only choice. Unlike earthly leaders, who may be appointed through elections or inherit their position through family lineage, Jesus holds His authority because He is the Son of God, flawless and holy.

The apostle Paul describes this beautifully in Philippians 2:9-11, where he writes, “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Jesus’ rule is not a suggestion or one option among many—it’s an inevitable reality, established from before time.

The Peace and Joy of His Leadership

If earthly governance is fraught with division, disappointment, and even distrust, then the heavenly governance by Jesus is its opposite. Where earthly leaders, no matter how well-intentioned, are human and prone to error, Jesus reigns with perfect wisdom, love, and justice. Revelation 21:4 speaks to the beautiful nature of His rule: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

Imagine a kingdom where there is no sorrow, no fear, and no need for political discourse or debate. Jesus doesn’t govern with promises that might fail; He rules with divine authority, in perfect accordance with His holy nature, and in heaven, His governance is fully realized and fully accepted by everyone.

No Campaign Needed: Jesus Has Already Proven Himself

Unlike earthly leaders who strive to win hearts and minds through promises and platforms, Jesus doesn’t need to campaign. His authority is backed by His sacrifice and love. He proved His worthiness on the cross, where He took upon Himself the sin of humanity to reconcile us to God. Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

The qualification for Jesus’ kingship was His complete obedience to the Father and His self-giving love for humanity. He died for us! When we understand this, we realize that His authority is not just about power, but about love—a love that sought us out even while we were still estranged from God. Jesus’ rule is established on the firmest foundation: the love that redeems and restores.

Worship Instead of Voting

In Heaven, there is no need for a ballot. Instead, there will be worship—pure, unending worship. Revelation 5:13 describes the scene: “And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, ‘To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.’”

Every knee will bow, and every voice will proclaim the lordship of Jesus. The unity and harmony that our earthly systems of governance strive but fail to achieve will be fully realized in worship under the rule of Jesus. His lordship brings peace, and in His presence, there’s no dissent, no division, only the shared joy of being in the presence of our Creator and Redeemer.

The Takeaway for Today

While we are still on earth, where we experience flawed systems and leaders who cannot fulfill every expectation, we can take comfort in knowing that heaven is different. As believers, we’re already part of God’s kingdom, awaiting the full manifestation of Jesus’ reign. This anticipation should remind us that no matter the challenges we face or the frustrations we encounter in our earthly lives, a perfect ruler awaits us in eternity.

Jesus Christ, our Lord, is not waiting for an election; He is waiting for His people to join Him in His kingdom. Let us live in anticipation, in reverence, and in hope, knowing that our eternal King is already on His throne, ready to welcome us into His perfect, everlasting rule.

In the meantime…I encourage you to vote. Your vote matters!
