The first African-American female firefighter, Jaquetta Brooks, retires from The Knoxville Fire Department. Knoxville Fire Department’s first African-American female firefighter retires Captain Jaquetta Brooks has served with the KFD for 30 years. She was also one of the first few females hired too. Actually one of four hired in 1988. The Fire Department held a retirement party for her this past Sunday, December 23, 2018.
