Sweetest Day – A Very sweet and candy filled holiday. Basically a day to share romantic deeds or expressions, and acts of charity and kindness with sweets! #SweetestDay #CandyDay
Sweetest Day
Do something nice for someone today, something that will make him or her say “Oh, that’s so sweet!”
Around 1922, a candy company employee named Herbert Birch Kingston decided that it would be a wonderful thing to distribute candy to the sick, shut-ins and orphans of Cleveland, OH. The motto developed is: Do something nice for someone today, something that will make him or her say “Oh, that’s so sweet!”
This day is held annually on the third Saturday in October. In 2024, that is on October 19. This day was created by candy companies to increase the sales of candy.
I also seen this day use to be called Candy Day that first started in 1916.
This candy holiday turned into a day for your sweetheart in your life.

I find it interesting they made a candy type holiday this close to Halloween where candy is usually a big seller anyways. However in 1916-18, during the War, sugar was scarce and hard to come by. This might have been the main reason. So I think this holiday is far from what it was first intended. Today is seems like another Valentine’s Day.
