Samson Movie Review – I share my review and the trailer to the Christian faith-based Movie Samson, the strongest man recorded in the Bible.
While watching the previews, there are a few good Christian faith-based movies that will be coming out soon! (Paul Apostle of Christ; I Can Only Imagine; The Miracle Season; and God’s Not Dead 3: A Light In Darkness). Follow this blog, as I may do a review of those movies as well and share on here.
Follow along as we see Samson as
- Chosen
- Betrayed
- Redeemed
Synopsis of Samson Movie
SAMSON is based on the powerful, biblical epic of a champion chosen by God to deliver Israel. His supernatural strength and impulsive decisions quickly pit him against the oppressive Philistine empire. After being betrayed by a wicked prince and a beautiful temptress, Samson is captured and blinded by his enemies. Samson calls upon his God once more for supernatural strength and turns imprisonment and blindness into final victory.
Production of Samson Movie
SAMSON was filmed on location in South Africa, and is a production of Pure Flix, producer of GOD’S NOT DEAD, the leading faith film of 2014.
“Most people know that Samson had long hair, Delilah cut it off, and that he lost his strength,” Director Bruce Macdonald said. “But there’s so much more. Samson was an unwilling hero, and his journey to regain his faith.”
Samson Movie Review
I really enjoyed Samson Movie. The movie seemed state of the art for its scenes. Samson was portrayed as the strong man that he was. Heather, my wife, said it seemed he struggled with his faith more than what she believes he should have. This movie is based from the Book of Judges, chapters 13-19. Yes, that is only a few short chapters about Samson. Like Answers in Genesis stated, you have to add some artist licensing. We also have to remember this movie is a drama movie, not a documentary movie too. Check out what they mention on their website.
As with any movie dealing with biblical history, many Christians who are thinking about going to see it will wonder whether the movie gets it right when portraying Scripture. Some may question why Bible-related movies frequently include details that are not found in the text. But it is important to realize that the Bible is not written as a screenplay. If a movie consisted of only the Samson narrative from Judges chapters 13–16, the film would be rather short and would not flow very well. Inevitably, some artistic license must be taken to craft a story that plays well on the screen, filling in with scenes that are not provided in the Bible.
Violence
With the fighting, blood shed and violence, I do believe this movie is more suited for older youth and up. One scene that was missing from the Bible was his interaction with a harlot. At this time, the movie is not been rated.
The movie does show Samson praying to God and asking God to give him strength. We know that his superhuman strength came from the Lord. This movie does show forgiveness as well. Even to someone that betrayed Samson. I did like how the movie portrayed God won and not a false god, like Dagon.
I do recommend you go and see this movie. When, Heather and I went, Tuesday night, February 20, 2018, the movie has already been out four days. There was only a few people in there watching it with us. We almost thought we had the theater to ourselves. So, go and watch this movie and show your support.
Another Movie from this movie
I do believe Samson Movie left the ending to believe they will be making a movie about David. I am looking forward to more Christian faith-based movies coming out soon.

I did not get tickets for this review. I did this review on my own. However, I did have free tickets from a mishap the last time I was at the theater and I used them to watch this movie and decided to write a review.

While writing about the movie, I was most impressed by the character instead of the script. It seems a movie with intense screenplay. Very well reviewed Mr. Steve.
Hey thanks for the comment. You thought maybe the character could have been better portrayed by someone else?
