Proverbs 2 – As part of the 31 Day Proverbs Challenge, I am doing one chapter per day for 31 days since there is 31 chapters also in the Book of Proverbs. This is Day 2 of 31, therefore I am focusing on Proverbs 2.

Proverbs 2

Today read the whole second chapter of Proverbs. Chapter 2 is a shorter chapter in the Book of Proverbs.

Can we put a value on wisdom? Chapter 2 titles The Value of Wisdom. The verse that stood out to me is, Proverbs 2:6

“For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;”

Proverbs 2:6 tells us that only God gives us knowledge. As verse 2, tells us to apply our heart. (Proverbs 2:2). We must have our ear tuned to God’s Word and have our heart able to apply the understanding. God can help us with discernment. This discernment can come from the Holy Spirit, which is our guide. It can tell us right from wrong. Check out this blog post called, The Holy Spirit is like an alarm system. Again fear of the Lord is what brings this knowledge (Proverbs 2:5). This second chapter of Proverbs, also tells us that seeking wisdom is like finding a hidden treasure of silver. If we seek wisdom like a hidden treasure, we will understand the fear of God. This wisdom helps us know when we do wrong, this wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit.

Wisdom is God Given

Not to mention, wisdom is also something that only God gives! God surely can give and God can take too. Godly wisdom is much differently than worldly wisdom. I’d rather have Godly wisdom than worldly wisdom any day. Godly wisdom will allow you to seek that of God. On the other hand, worldly wisdom seeks that which go against the Will of God.

Plus, Keeping Gods commandments helps to give us wisdom. This shows we Fear God and know we should follow the Law of God. By keeping the commandments we know when we are following God’s way or not. When we don’t we know it will end with destruction. This knowledge helps us go down the correct path.
