Pantophobia or Panophobia or Omniphobia – Fear of everything – Lucy from the Peanuts shares that is the problem Charlie Brown (In A Charlie Brown Christmas) and Linus (In the comic strips) has.
Pantophobia or Panophobia or Omniphobia
I am starting a new series on Christian Phobias. Why not start off with this phobia. I plan to talk about some phobias Christians may have. Fear of Church, Fear of Believers, Fear of God, Fear of Holy People, etc. Make sure you follow this blog so you won’t miss a blog post!
Panto is All or Everything in Greek. Phobia is Fear in Greek. Even Omni in Greek is All. If you fear EVERYTHING this is the fear that you may have.
Lucy Van Pelt acts like she is a doctor on the Peanuts show, having a psychiatry booth. Where her fee was only 5¢. (of course at times it varied in different comic strips and cartoons).
What is interesting is in the comic strip it show Linus, however in the Christmas special it shows Charlie Brown. (See below)
In A Charlie Brown Christmas, Charlie Brown, known as Chuck, talks to Lucky and by the end of that coverasaion she says he has the fear of everything.
Convo!
Lucy offers several other types of phobia before this final one here.
Lucy: Or maybe you have pantophobia. Do you think you have pantophobia?
Charlie Brown: What’s pantophobia?
Lucy: The fear of everything!
Charlie Brown: THAT’S IT!
I don’t really think Charlie Brown or even Linus has Pantophobia or Panophobia or Omniphobia – Fear of everything from watching the Charlie Brown shows and seeing the comics. I think it was just part of Shultz humor.
However, I am sure there are real people that fear everything. These people I would said would avoid everything. They wouldn’t do anything, etc.
Peanut Characters shown are by Charles Shultz. Images used are for illustrational purposes only.
