Neonatal Kitten Rescue – a newly formed cat rescue that helps at-risk kittens in the Tri-Cities area.
Neonatal Kitten Rescue
The Tri-Cities is the region comprising the cities of Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol of Tennessee.
Heather Whittle founded Neonatal Kitten Rescue early in 2018. This Kitten Rescue takes in kittens from birth up to six weeks old. Plus, pregnant cats whose kittens may be at risk of having health issues.
“They’re kittens kind of in a bad position if they’re found, and people don’t know how to take care of them, I absolutely fell in love with the kittens. I like the challenge of it. I like all of it. It’s been a lot of fun. The community’s been really supportive.”

They also accept homeless nursing mother cats with babies under six weeks old who would be at risk living in an animal shelter.
Since August, more than 160 kittens have come through the rescue, including some who died, and Whittle expects at least 400 in 2019.
Neonatal Kitten Rescue is a non-profit rescue and is a home-based resuce too. They are also a non-profiit status since October of 2018. Plus, is approved as a PetSmart adoption partner.
I might add that Whittle is in veterinary technician school too. She also hopes to have a kitten cafe open in 2019.
