National Salami Day – A day to enjoy that yummy cured sausage. #NationalSalamiDay
National Salami Day
My favorite salami is Hard Salami. I love to eat it with cheese and crackers. It is even good on a sandwich too.
Salami is cured sausage consisting of fermented and air-dried meat, typically beef or pork. It is usually lined with animal intestine, usually that of the type of meat it came from. Different spices are usually added as well.
This day was started in Henrico, VA in 2006 by the Salami Appreciation Society. It is held annually on September 7.
Did you know that pepperoni, chorizo and soppressata are types of salamis?
