National Mr. Potato Head Day – That fun face changing potato toy has its own day. The face possibilities are endless! #MrPotatoHead #MrPotatoHeadDay
National Mr. Potato Head Day
I enjoyed playing with Mr. Potato Head and getting his parts to his face and body out of his behind, so to speak.
In the 1940s, George Lerner of Brooklyn came up with the idea for a “funny face man.”
On April 30, 1952, Mr. Potato Head became the first toy advertised on television. Then, Mr. Potato Head debuted the following day, at a cost of $0.98. There was no plastic potato included, and a real potato had to be used.
This day is held annually on April 30.
I believe this day was picked because of the advertisement airing on that day.
