National Gummi Worm Day. Yes there is a day for those yummy gummi treats the Gummi Worm! #GummiWormDay
National Gummi Worm Day
The inventor of gummi worms sure did bait a lot of people and got them hooked on these yummy treats. My favorite kind is the sour gummi worms. In 1920, the gummi bear was invented. Gummi candies are made from gelatin, sugar and citric acid, the three main ingredients.
The Trolli is the one that came up with National Gummi Worm Day. Of course, Trolli brand, is my favorite sour gummi worm candy. Trolli, a German based company invented these in 1981. So, I am older than these gelatin treat. Did you also know that Gummi is German for Rubber. Since gummi candy has a rubbery texture, they called them gummi candy.
National Gummi Worm Day is July 15, each year.
If you follow this blog, you will know, I blog about all kinds of crazy holidays we celebrate.
Since we are talking about worms, I want to share a section of the Bible talking about worms.
42 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—44 where
‘Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.’
45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—46 where
‘Their worm does not die,
And the fire is not quenched.’
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire—48 where
‘Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.’
