National Eagle Scout Day

So August 1 is known as National Eagle Scout Day. 2012 was the 100th Anniversary of the Eagle Scout Badge. Scouting started in 1910. So from the start of Scouting and until the first Eagle Scout award given, took 2 years.

I am even a lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA).

The first Eagle Scout award was earned by Arthur R. Eldred on Labor Day, September 2, 1912. However, there is some debate about the exact date of the award. Some sources say that he was officially awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on March 29, 1912, but he did not receive the actual medal until September 2, 1912.

There are mixed about the actual date.

January 31 is officially recognized by NESA as National Eagle Scout Day in recognition of Eldred’s Board of Review he sat in 1912. The important date of an Eagle Scout’s Board of Review is the officially recognized date a Scout achieves the rank of Eagle Scout regardless of the date of their Eagle Court of Honor.

Saying “Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle”

I know that having Eagle Scout as greatest achievement on my resume, has helped me land some jobs in my past.

Eagle Scout is the rank highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. It shows great dedication, determination and desire. It shows great leadership too.

With new changes in the Boy Scouts of America, I am disappointed in new things. I am sure Lloyd Powell, if he was alive would be very disappointed in the scouting movement.

Scouting was founded on some simple Christian beliefs.

I do believe we need to pray for the future of the Boy Scouts of America. Not to mention, I glad to see that churches that host Boy Scouts can set standards on the Adult Leadership requirements still. Churches can still choose not to have a homosexual adult leader, which I am glad to hear. Plus, I hope and pray churches will stand on that and not cave into the World views. I hope these church led scout troops will stick to the foundations of Scouting in the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. Remember a Scout is Reverent. A Scout is Morally Straight!

Due to the way the Boy Scouts is going, many churches and families have dropped their boys from troops that or they have enrolled them into Trail Life.

2024, I celebrated being an Eagle Scout for 30 years!
