This was played in our church service for Mother’s Day 2023. This video goes over various mothers found in the Bible.

There all kinds of mothers mentioned in the Bible.

Here’s a list of 20 mothers mentioned in the Bible:

  1. Eve – The first mother, mother of all humanity².
  2. Sarah – Mother of Isaac, wife of Abraham¹.
  3. Hagar – Mother of Ishmael, maidservant to Sarah¹.
  4. Rebekah – Mother of Jacob and Esau, wife of Isaac¹.
  5. Leah – Mother of six of Jacob’s sons, including Judah and Levi².
  6. Rachel – Mother of Joseph and Benjamin, beloved wife of Jacob².
  7. Jochebed – Mother of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam².
  8. Hannah – Mother of Samuel, known for her devout prayer².
  9. Bathsheba – Mother of Solomon, wife of King David².
  10. Naomi – Mother-in-law of Ruth, part of the lineage of Jesus².
  11. Ruth – Great-grandmother of King David, known for her loyalty².
  12. Elizabeth – Mother of John the Baptist, relative of Mary².
  13. Mary – Mother of Jesus, central figure in Christianity².
  14. The Widow of Zarephath – Provided for Elijah during a famine².
  15. The Widow of Nain – Jesus raised her son from the dead².
  16. Lydia – A follower of Jesus and host to Paul and Silas².
  17. Eunice – Mother of Timothy, noted for her faith².
  18. Lois – Grandmother of Timothy, noted for her faith².
  19. Michal – Daughter of Saul, wife of David, mentioned in the context of motherhood².
  20. Gomer – Wife of Hosea, mother of three children².

These women come from various backgrounds and stories, each contributing to the rich tapestry of narratives found in the Bible. They are remembered for their faith, struggles, and the roles they played in the unfolding story of God’s people.
