Lower Ball Joint & Axle – This is something I’d recommend you get checked on your car with high mileage. I had my driver side ball joint broke off and it also broke the driver side axle. I took it to get repaired and the other side lower ball joint was bad too.
I was lucky I was in a parking lot when this popped off. If I was on the interstate or highway, it could have possibly caused the car to flip or get me in a serious accident.
Well, I won’t say I was lucky! I will say God was looking after me when it popped off and where it popped off. It could have been worse.
If you hear popping noises especially when you steer (turn your car) you may want to have that looked at. Don’t be me thinking it’s just the car getting older. I’ll be the first to say, I don’t do t anything about automotive repairs etc.
Where it popped off and lodged in the wheel well, it also did some minor body damage. It could have done more damage, but it didn’t.
The actual cost for both lower ball joints and drivers axle wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was cheaper than their rough estimate guess too.
No matter where you go to get your car repaired. Make sure they are a reputable repair shop. Check out their reviews and ask around.
Lil’ Red, name of my car, will be glad she’s fixed.
Lesson learned for me! Go have the lower ball joint done as part of your inspection!
Thanks to Sunset Towing of Morristown for the towing and Porter’s Tire in Talbott for fixing my car.
I did not get anything to mention the towing or repair place. I paid for my tow and repairs. I am just thanking them.
