John 21
This is the last day of this reading challenge. You might want to check out the 31 Day Proverbs Challenge.
In the last chapter of John, there are 4 headings with 25 verses.
1. Jesus Appears at the Sea of Galilee
Jesus manifested Himself along the Sea of Galilee to His disciples.
Jesus manifested Himself along the Sea of Galilee to His disciples. The disciples were going out on the boat at night and caught nothing.
Jesus was on the land, and saw the boat asking if they caught anything and they let Him know they didn’t They didn’t know it was Jesus. That is when Jesus told them to put their nets on the right side and they will catch fish.
That catch of fish was so great, they were not able to haul it in.
Again the Disciple Whom Jesus loved without a name was mentioned.
Peter put on his outer garment because he had it off working and threw himself into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat. The Gospel of John mentions it was little boat and there were maybe 100 yards away.
They had bread and fish. Get this the net did not even break, with all the fish they caught.
2. Jesus Provides
Verses 12-14
So they came and ate breakfast. This was the third time that Jesus manifested Himself to the Disciples.
3. The Love Motivation
Verses 15-17
After breakfast, Jesus questioned Simon Peter … “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” Simon Peter answered Jesus, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” Jesus did this three times. (Remember Simon Peter denied Jesus three times).
After Simon Peter’s first reply, Jesus told him, “Tend My lambs.” On the second time, Jesus told Simon Peter, “Shepherd My sheep.” On the third time, told him to “Tend My Sheep.”
4. Our Times Are in His Hand
Verses 18-25
Jesus make mention that when you are young, you were able to walk where you wanted and unassisted. But as you get older, you will need assistance and are not able to walk where you pleased.
He told them to Follow Me.
The Gospel of John concludes with these two verses …
This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they *were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself *would not contain the books that *would be written.
John 21:24-25
I honestly don’t think we could handle knowing or hearing all the signs and miracles that Jesus did during His Ministry on Earth. Plus, if it did, the Bible would be so big, we couldn’t carry it around.
