John 16 – Today is Day 16 of the 21 Day Gospel of John Challenge. Today read the 16th Chapter of the Gospel of John. #John16 #BGBG2
John 16
There are 4 Headers in 33 verses in this chapter.
1. Jesus’ Warning
Verses 1-4
Jesus lets them know that the things He spoke was to help them not stumble. He also stated that people will kill you because they think they are doing service to God, but they don’t know God.
2. The Holy Spirit Promised
Here Jesus was letting them know that the Helper (Holy Spirit) won’t come unless He goes away. If Jesus never went away, the Holy Spirit would have never came.
The Holy Spirit will come convicting of sin. It is the Holy Spirit that lets us know when we sinned against God and that we need to make it right, repent, do a 180, not a 360. That is why I did a blog post called the Holy Spirit is like an Alarm System.
Jesus also wanted to say more to the disciples, but knew they couldn’t handle them. But, did let them know the Holy Spirit will guide you in truth.
3. Jesus’ Death and Resurrection Foretold
“A little while, and you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me.”
John 16:16
A quote of Jesus that confused them all. He was telling them that He will be put to death, but will rise again. Plus, the fact they will see Him in Heaven, The Eternal Destination for the believer.
4. Prayer Promises
Jesus was saying that if they asked in the Father’s name they will have. Jesus then started to use plain talk, not figurative, parables to talk to the disciples.
In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
I am glad Jesus overcame the world. He conquered death and sin on the Cross. Thank you God for sending your Son, to save your children.
