I saw this church sign August 7, 2015 as I was heading home from the store. This is from the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jefferson City, TN.
This church sign got the wording from the Bible. In the Gospel of Matthew it is clear that we must forgive or we won’t be forgiven. If you are like me, you want to be forgiven. I do know that it can be hard to forgive others when they do us wrong, but we must forgive them. Check out what Matthew says below.
Matthew 6:15Â New King James Version (NKJV)
15Â But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
The Bible does tell us we must do go to those who does us wrong. When we do good to those who wrong us, it is like putting hot coals on their head. See Proverbs 25:21-22 & Romans 12:19-20.
The Bible tells us over and over we must forgive. Let’s look at it this way. We would want others to forgive us right? So we should do the same for them. Forgive! We must keep forgiving them, no matter how many times they do us wrong.
Matthew 18:22Â New King James Version (NKJV)
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
So forgive others. Show the love of Jesus by offering forgiveness to others. God forgives us after all.
Ephesians 4:32Â New King James Version (NKJV)
32Â And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
It is very important we must forgive. Christ forgave us, we should forgive others. We want to keep our relationship restored with Christ. We must forgive others. Forgiveness is key.
I wrote an article here on Courageous Christian Father on forgiveness. Check out that blog entry: Forgiveness.
