Grotto Falls – I share about my experience with this hike and tid-bits about this hike too.
Grotto Falls
This hike runs behind the 25 foot high waterfall. You can expect to do about 3 miles round trip (2.6 miles) on this hike. It is considered moderate to difficult type of hike. You can expect to take 2-3 hours round trip. But if you take your time and enjoy God’s creation. You can also spend some times at the waterfall and maybe have a picnic or devotion there too.
On this hike, you will also gain 585 Feet in elevation. The highest elevation point is 3,777 Feet along the The Trillium Gap Trail. You will get to cross over several streams too without any bridges too. There are not pets alone on this trail or bikes either.
If you wish you can continue on the Trillium Gap Trail to Mount LeConte.
This is my second hike to Grotto Falls. Both times have been with the youth at Piedmont Baptist Church. The picture was taken on the day of the hike, May 27, 2017.

Grotto Falls and the Roaring Fork Motor Trail made our trip to the area. I’ve seen a few posts saying that the trail is closed, but when we were there on October 11, 2019, the sign said it was closed Monday through Thursday, so we lucked out since we were there on a Friday. They are doing a lot of improvements, and the trail is very well maintained. I’m not going to lie, this was not easy, but it is doable. I am someone who walks 4 miles 4 times a week, and this was a little challenging at a certain point due to the incline, but we saw all types of people taking their time and doing fine. It is so cool to start to hear the water when you get close to the falls.
Oh wow on the closures. They do like to do updates a lot in various state parks. It’s okay to take your time. A lot of people out of shape go too. Thanks for the comment.
Amazing man! I watched grotto falls in videos only. I planned to visit this year but due to covid, it was not possible. I hope next year will be good for everyone and we can travel again 🙂
