Garfield the Cat Day
Garfield the Cat day is held annually on the 19th of June. Garfield the cat was created by a cartoonist, Jim Davis. He first appeared in cartoon strip on the 19th day of June in 1978. Garfield is a ginger cat. This famous comic character has been syndicated to roughly 2,580 newspapers and journals. Not only that, but Garfield holds a Guinness World Record for being the most widely syndicated comic in 2013.
The first Garfield the Cat Day was held in 1998, which is on the 20th anniversary of the comic strips birthday. A Boca Raton City Council Member, Wanda Thayer, proclaimed that day as Garfield the Cat Day during a surprise birthday party that was held at the International Museum of Cartoon Art in Boca Raton, FL.
