What is Figgy Pudding?

The answer simply is it is a Christmas Pudding, usually a Plum Pudding and part of the British Christmas Table.

I’ve been told that it is Delicious, but I don’t like plums, so I do not believe I would try or eat this Christmas Pudding. However, it is usually made with dry fruit. So it can vary depending on the dried fruit used.

“The ‘plum’ was a pre-Victorian generic term for any type of dried fruit, but most specifically, raisins,” Waugh explains. ” ‘Figgy’ — certainly at some time figs would have been incorporated into Christmas pudding recipes, but today, not traditionally.”

Some traditions say they set the pudding on fire and it represents the Passion of Christ. They also say that it has generally 13 ingredients. That represents the 12 Apostle and Jesus Christ.

However this cake is often used with Brandy, a type of alcohol.
