May 22, 2016, Piedmont Baptist Church will celebrate it’s 125th Anniversary. This is a brief history of the church that was submitted by the pastor, Pastor Bob Neal. Piedmont Baptist Church is the church I am a member of and actively serve.
Brief History of Piedmont Baptist Church
The citizens of Piedmont sensed more and more the need of a church in their community. That sense peaked in May 1891, when Baptist ministers issued a call for an assembly of citizens of Piedmont to organize a Baptist church. In answer to the call, the citizens of Piedmont met in Meadow Brook school house on Saturday, May 23, 1891 for the purpose of organizing a Baptist church. The church met in Meadow Brook school house until the church could be build. On April 7, 1894, a lot was purchased to build the church on at costs of $95. During the life of the church, the church has been housed in three different buildings. The first was destroyed by lightning; the second was torn down to make way for the present building. When the first church burned, in July 1913, the bell was destroyed. The men worked faithfully to rebuild the church in four months. The woman wanted to do their part, so they went door to door to ask for eggs or chickens to purchase a bell. That bell still rings loud and clear in the present church.

Part of this celebration will be the ringing of that same church bell, 125 times, remembering those faithful members and all members that have served throughout the years.
