The Ark Encounter will be a new museum featuring a life-size Ark, based on the Biblical dimensions in the Bible that God told Noah to build. I think this might be a great and interesting museum to go and take your family, youth group or the church. If I get a chance to go and visit, I will post a review of this attraction.
The Ark Encounter is set to open July 7, 2016 and you can even pre-order our boarding passes now.
America’s Next Big Tourist Attraction – The Ark Encounter
The green rolling hills of Northern Kentucky is the location of America’s next major theme park—the Ark Encounter. On 800 beautiful acres off I-75 in Williamstown, KY (south of Cincinnati, OH), the builders of the successful Creation Museum are constructing a one-of-a-kind historically themed attraction, with a huge full-size Noah’s Ark as the centerpiece.
The $86 million first phase of the park will, in an educational and immersive way, present a number of historical events surrounding an immense 510-foot-long, 80-foot high wooden Ark, which will be the largest timber-frame structure in the world. It will measure almost two football fields and stand 5 stories high.
The Ark Encounter is being designed to be family oriented, historically authentic, and environmentally friendly. Included in the experience will be daily animal shows, extensive interactive children’s area, live entertainment, themed restaurants, and shopping.
The Ark is based on the dimensions recorded in the Bible (Genesis 6) and was designed in accordance with sound established nautical engineering practices of the biblical era. In addition to getting help from Amish workers using their impressive woodworking skills, construction workers, both Amish and non-Amish, are using modern-day techniques and tools to build this enormous ship.
Through the construction of a massive full-scale Noah’s Ark, the Ark Encounter will present America and other nations with a reminder of the Bible’s account of the Ark and the faithfulness of Noah. Many of the talented team members who built the high-tech, family friendly Creation Museum, are on board for the Ark Encounter.
Additional future phases for the attraction include a Walled City, the Tower of Babel, a first-century Middle Eastern village, a journey in history from Abraham to the parting of the Red Sea, a walk-through aviary, a large petting zoo, and more. This new attraction, within a one-day drive of almost two-thirds of America’s population, is positioned to become a destination that will capture the world’s attention, with an estimated yearly attendance of at least 1.4 million visitors, up to 2.2 million.
