The U-Haul Truck Doesn’t Follow the Hearse When You Die
You never see the hearse taking the belongings of your loved one and have it buried with them. That is because you can’t take your belongs with you when you die. Death Happens!
The belongs you acquired will be left behind and up to the family to decide to pass down, sell, giveaway, donate or even trash. If it’s a recent loss, the belongs may go to a storage unit for a time period to sort out afterwards sometimes it may have to get auctioned off and so much more.
I write this because my mom recently passed away and we rented a U-Haul moving truck. We boxed up her stuff and took a few things with us that seemed important. The rest of the stuff we put into storage to go through later. None of this went with her to the grave or was buried with her. It all way left behind!
Seeing a photo of the truck we rented reminded me of that metaphor. It also reminded me of the Bible verse lay up your treasures in Heaven. Matthew 6:20. Those are the people we can share the gospel with and not our belongs.
Only souls we can take to heaven. The material items won’t last. Only our souls for eternity heaven or hell will be our final destination.
Don’t wait for the here’s to take you to church! It’s too late then!
