2 Greatest Laws out of over 600 Laws in the Bible
This weeks Theological Tuesday is about the Greatest Laws. There are 613 Laws in the Bible. Jesus points out two of the laws as being the greatest. This was when a lawyer came to try to trick Jesus. The lawyer wanted to know what the greatest commandment, law is and how to have eternal life.
Jesus answered him telling that we are to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. Plus we are to love our neighbor as yourself. Which loving God is the greatest and foremost. Then the other is loving your neighbor as your self. By doing these two we will live. If love God, we will love what God loves.
Love is the greatest commandment, law!
Bible References
25 And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” 29 But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Luke 10:25-29
34 But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together. 35 One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:34-40
