10 Years of Lilly Bug – 10 years ago Lilly Bug, a calico tortoiseshell cat came into the Patterson Family.
10 Years of Lilly Bug
Lilly Bug was adopted from the Jefferson County Humane Society on January 24, 2015. Where my daughter and I gave her a new furever home. We went a couple of times to look at the cats there. The second time, I had some muscle cream on my forehead from a headache. A couple of the cats didn’t want me to hold them, but Lilly Bug did.
A lot has changes in that ten years. Amber became an adult and moved out. Steve remarried Heather and she also got a big brother, Joel the Brave. You cannot leave out the brave part in his name. Then not that long ago, Lilly Bug also got a sister, MissPrints.
Heather, Steve’s wife gave Lilly Bug a middle name, “Juliette” Patterson. She used the “J” since her kitty brother’s name started with a “J”. She even gave Joel the Brave a middle name too that started with an “L” since Lilly Bugs name started with an “L”.
When she was adopted ten years ago, they believed she was already one or two years old. So she is a senior cat. She has seen a lot in that time frame.
When I talked to my mom on the phone, when she was alive, she would also ask about her grand kitties. When we brought stuff from my moms after her passing, Lilly Bug would sniff it a lot, I bet should could smell my mom and trying to figure out where she was.
One interesting thing about Lilly Bug was when she wants your attention, she would make a barking sound as if she was a dog. I would tell her she is not a dog, but a cat and then she would meow. I think maybe she was around dogs before she was adopted. Did you know cats can mimic sounds?
She is a good big sister to both cats. She does help groom them. She still can boss them around and even boss us too demanding food or treats.
I remember one time, we got Lilly Bug and Joel the Brave a wet treat to eat, she noticed the one piece of shrimp in her bowl and quickly ate hers and then pushed her brother out of the way and stole his piece of shrimp out of his and ate it.
When I had my tonsillectomy and was recovering from it, it seemed she knew when it was time for my next dose of medicine, she would jump up on my bed waking me up, not to have my medicine alarm go off shortly after.
Even when my wife has back surgery, she seemed to keep on eye on my wife was she was out with her walker making sure she was okay.
This blog post could go on and on with memories of Lilly Bug, if we could only get in her mind to reflect on her memories … maybe we don’t.
If you want to get a pet, I encourage you to adopt a pet from a local animal shelter where they can get their furever home. Try not to buy them from those where all they do is breed and breed to make money off that. Most pets at shelters may not make and often get euthanized.
