The Genesis of Isaiah 117 House

The story of Isaiah 117 House began in 2014 when Ronda and her husband, Corey, were training to become foster parents. During a class at the Washington County Department of Children’s Services (DCS) office, they learned that children often had to wait in sterile, cold environments for placement. This realization sparked a vision in Ronda’s heart: a home where children could find comfort, safety, and love during one of the most challenging days of their lives³.

In 2015, this vision became more urgent when Ronda received a call to pick up a foster child who had nothing but the clothes on his back. This experience solidified her resolve to create a place where children could feel cared for and valued. By February 2017, the dream of Isaiah 117 House began to take shape, with a mission to provide physical and emotional support to children in need³.

The Mission and Impact

Isaiah 117 House operates with a clear mission: to provide a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster care placement. The organization offers a warm, welcoming environment with clean clothes, bath toys, snacks, comfy beds, and toys. Volunteers are on call to greet and care for these children, ensuring they feel loved and supported during a difficult transition².

The impact of Isaiah 117 House extends beyond the children it serves. It also supports caseworkers and future foster families by providing a nurturing space where children can stay while waiting for placement. This reduces the stress and trauma associated with the foster care process, helping children to feel more secure and less anxious⁴.

Expanding the Vision

Since its inception, Isaiah 117 House has grown significantly. It now has locations in multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia². Each house is a testament to the power of community and the profound impact that love and care can have on a child’s life.
